SASSA Older Persons Grant
One of my friends’ grandfathers was facing extreme poverty, so I suggested that he apply for the Older Persons Grant on his grandfather’s behalf. Now he is getting a grant payment and living a better life. Are you facing the same situation and need to cover basic needs like food, medicine, and daily expenses? You are in the right spot.
In 2025, South Africa’s population reached 63.1 million, with 6.1 million people aged 60 and above. This shows that there is a need for lookafter and care for these people.
Learn about how you can apply for yourself or someone you know to get a monthly cash payment from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). The grant is a monthly pension for those who are elderly and can not earn their living.
What is the SASSA Older Persons Grant or Old Age Pension?
The SASSA Older Persons grant is a government program that provides financial aid to senior citizens in South Africa. It is designed for people aged 60 years and above who have little or no income. The grant helps cover basic needs like food, medicine, transport, and other daily expenses.
The grant name was Old Age Pension, and now it is renamed as Older Persons grant. However, this grant is similar to a pension program for old age people.
Its purpose is to ensure that older adults can live with dignity and independence, even if they cannot work anymore. The grant is paid monthly and can be received through a bank account, Postbank, or cash payments.
