What Does “Status Pending” Mean for the SRD Grant?
I woke up, took my phone, opened the “srd.sassa.gov.za” web portal, went to the “SASSA status check” page, and entered my ID and phone number, and guess what? I found this status code “Status Pending”. Well, that was a panic and confusing experience for me.
I can relate to this frustrating matter very well, as I have personally experienced it. However, there is no need to be worried or anxious at all. This status code is pretty normal, and in fact, it should come to your application.
To calm your nerves, I have published this guide with the solution to this matter. Now your tension is over. Read the complete article.
What is the “SASSA Status Pending” Code for the SRD R370 Grant Application?
When you check your SASSA SRD grant and see the words “Status Pending,” it can confuse you for a moment. But no, there is no need to worry. The meaning of this status code is simple:
“Your application has been submitted to SASSA successfully. Now the SASSA team is checking and verifying your application details, eligibility, and documents. This process can take some time, up to 90 days maximum.”
So this is quite a normal process, and it should be shown to you when you check your SASSA grant status, because after this phase, you will get the approval.
When Will Pending Status Convert to Approved Status?
SASSA deals with millions of applications each month. According to the new Money Web report, SASSA gets about 80,000 new SRD grant applications each month. Also, 17.4 million people have applied for the SRD grant since it was first started in May 2020.
You should know that more than 9 million people from all around South Africa are already getting the Social Relief of Distress grant. So these numbers are pretty big, and thus SASSA has to take time to deal with all the applications, new or old.
And if you are wondering when your pending grant status will turn to approved status, then the TAT is around 60 to 90 days.
Does Pending Mean Declined Application?
No, not at all! Pending means the application is under review or in process to be approved. SASSA needs to check all the details, like your eligibility, documents, and ID, to make sure the grant goes only to the people who truly need it.
Pending status can sometimes take longer than 3 months in very rare cases. Also, if your application is pending for more than 90 days, then you need to contact SASSA immediately.
What Do I Need to Do During the Pending Application?
Nothing! Yes, you don’t need to do anything during the pending application period. The pending status is normal, and it will take the proper time. So you can not do anything to accelerate the approval process.
You need to show patience and keep checking your SRD grant status to stay updated with your application status.
What If You Get Declined Status?
You can receive a SASSA declined status if your application was not approved for various reasons. However, tackle this situation with patience and do not panic. First of all, check out the reason for your declined status. It can be due to identity verification failure, ineligibility, or incomplete documents, among other reasons.
So make sure you know the reasons behind the declined status. Once you figure out the reason, you need to submit the appeal for reconsideration only if your eligibility is still not violated.
I have explained a complete guide on the SASSA appeal for reconsideration for the SRD grant that you can read and know about how to lodge the appeal to the Department of Social Development (DSD).
