SASSA SRD Grant Reapplication
Every SASSA Social Relief of Distress grant beneficiary has to submit the SASSA SRD grant reapplication once every 3 months.
This rule is for the safety of the clients, so no one can infringe on someone’s rights. The logic behind checking the SRD grant eligibility criteria once every 90 days is to check whether a beneficiary is still eligible for the grant.
Life is fast, and things can happen anytime. A person who is vulnerable today may be a millionaire someday. We can not say with confidence what will happen next in the future.
That is why your SRD application status check report is saying “Reapplication pending”. So you need to verify your eligibility once again to get the R370 for another 3 months.
Not sure how to do it? Well, this is easier than the first SRD application process. I will guide you throughout the process.
What is the Special SASSA SRD COVID-19 Relief Grant Reapplication?
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is distributing SRD grant payments to 18 million beneficiaries in 2026. 18 million is not a small number. If we calculate the amount roughly, then it comes to:
18 million x R370 = R666,000,000 (6.6 billion)
Almost 7 billion South African Rands were disbursed among the needy, poor, and unemployed people in 2026. So SASSA always has some strict rules, so they grant payment only to those who deserve it.
To tackle this issue, the agency has introduced a system, “SRD Grant Reapplication”. In this way, all the approved applicants have to verify their eligibility every 90 days.
If your circumstances are improved, then your grant will be terminated from then on.
